How To Use the Interactive Map

Toolbar

Instructions

Zoom In Zoom In

A) Click and drag a rectangle: Click and hold the left mouse button down on the map to begin drawing the rectangle. Drag the mouse to the opposite corner of the rectangle, encompassing the area to zoom, and release the mouse button. The map will zoom in to the area of the rectangle. The smaller the rectangle you draw, the more the map will zoom in.
or B) Click on the map: Click once on the map - the map will zoom in and recenter the map where you click.

Zoom Out Zoom out

A) Click and drag a rectangle: Click and hold the left mouse button down on the map to begin drawing the rectangle. Drag the mouse to the opposite corner of the rectangle, and release the mouse button. The map will then zoom out. The smaller the rectangle you draw, the more the map will zoom out.
or B) Click on the map: Click once on the map - the map will zoom out and recenter the map where you click.

Pan Pan

Click and drag the map: Click and hold the left mouse button on the map, and drag the map to the desired position on your screen.

Full Extent Full Extent

Full extent: Immediately zooms the map out to the original statewide view. The active tool does not change.

How to Map Your Address

1. To plot an address on the map display, begin by selecting Locate Address under the Task heading.

2. The resulting screen will list fields for entering the address information. Enter the street address, city, state abbreviation, and 5-digit zip code.

3. After clicking the find button, the address locator will attempt to match the address to the road database. The returned information will display under the Results section. Expand the result by clicking the plus sign to the left of the address. Selecting the box next to the address will plot the location on the map display with a bright red pushpin graphic.

Note: Addresses located in newer subdivisions or on recently constructed roads may not yet be available for searching. As soon as updated road data becomes available, the Locate Address function will be updated.


4. Once the address is plotted on the map display, the map can be zoomed closer to the location. Right-click the found address under the Results section and select Zoom to.

5. To clear the graphic plotted at the address location, uncheck the box beside the address under the Results section.

6. To remove the address listing from the Results section, right-click the result and select Remove.

How to Identify Broadband Providers

1. On the Toolbar, click the Identify tool Identify Icon

2. In the map display, click on the feature or area you want to identify. An identify iconIdentify on Map will be placed on the map at the location selected. After a few moments, an entry for the location will appear in the Results section.
Note: Results will be more accurate when the map is zoomed in close to the location you would like to identify.

3. Expand the location by clicking the plus sign. This displays the names of the layers that had features identified.

4. Expand a layer to display the name of a given feature or provider.

5. Expand the feature name to get additional information.

6. To remove the Identify result from the Results section, right-click COBroadband and select Remove.
